The present day station known as Eltham was opened on the 17 March 1985 It opened a day after two station, closed. Eltham Well Hall and Eltham Park were replaced by a more centralised Eltham station which has a bus station interchange. The Eltham Well Hall station was opened with the rest of the Bexleyheath line on the May 1, 1895, but had several name changes during its time. When it opened the station was named "Well Hall" and in October 1, 1916 the name was changed to "Well Hall & North Eltham". On September 26, 1926 the station name was again changed to "Eltham (Well Hall)" The Eltham Park Station opened after the line on July 1, 1908. When opened it was named "Shooters Hill and Eltham Park" but the station was re-named "Eltham Park" on October 1, 1927.
